Winamp is a great piece of software that allows you to do many things with your music.
You can organise your whole music collections into one library of songs and customise songs, artists, albums etc into smart of manual playlists.
You can install many plugins such as one that will allow you to put your music onto your iPod or MP3 Player.
A great plugin I recommend and enjoy is the ShoutCast DSP plugin. It allows you to broadcast your music from Winamp on the Internet over your IP. A ShoutCast server is required for this and large bandwidth would be needed so limited monthly usage users are not recommended to use it or use it often.
Winamp is fast and reliable that supports many file formats such as MP3, WMA, WAV etc.
You can also customise the appearence of the program by applying different skins and colour schemes.
