iPhone, an idea that has been around since 2001, but finally the rumours are turning into facts and announcements are coming to air. But really what is this iPhone rumour really about?


When looking at the rumours there is lots of idea of how you will interact with the gadget. The most common idea is that it will work in the same way as an ipod with the iconic click wheel, this could use the idea of the old fashion spiny dialler(what do you call that). Then there’s the idea of a full touch screen but this sounds a lot like the rumour of the apparently soon to be new ipod video (cough), And even quoting from the words of one of the twit team who do a great podcast. But then what is it that will make an iPhone stand out compared to the rest. The answer you will get is that it will be ease of use. Has anyone noticed that when you navigate a cell phone that everything has its own little menu that leads to another menu that you can only get to through the first menu (complicated). And if you haven’t noticed this is apples main reason they are so successful is that they make everything user friendly. The next thing would be that you can bet it will sync with your computer with out stuffing up contact list and making double ups or making adding photos easy to put on the device.(drag and drop not copy and paste) and the final one, with any thing with an apple logo it is just going to look so dam cool.



But now the facts or hints that have been drop that people have been finding out is really interesting such as apple is planning to release two iPhones models with the difference being one a smart like phone with a keyboard and wi fi capability and the other one being a more general social phone with a 2.2 inch display and a 3 megapixel camera. But what makes this more interesting is that in the release of leopard apple are working on a mobile version of itunes which would allow you to download songs on the go anywhere via the cell phone internet. Also with the release of itunes 7.0.1 there is code in there that references to formats for a phone to sync to itunes and manually loading music on and a whole lot more. And probably the most important announcement by Motorola is that apple and Motorola have admitted they are working on a joint venture phone to support a mobile version of itunes. This proving that they are serious about producing them, with there also apple filing a trade mark for the name iPhone in several countries.




Me personally I am excited about the chances of an iPhone, but naturally the chances of it being available in New Zealand is second to none.
